The International Hemophilia Training Centre (IHTC) Fellowship Program provides training in all aspects of bleeding disorders management for healthcare professionals in developing countries. The program aims to improve the knowledge and engagement of healthcare professionals, and, in turn, deliver better care, enhance diagnostic capacity, and improve patient outcomes. Since the IHTC Fellowship Program was launched in 1972, nearly 815 healthcare professionals from more than 100 countries have received training.
The program aims to improve the knowledge and engagement of healthcare professionals, and, in turn, deliver better care, enhance diagnosis accuracy, and improve patient outcomes. Training includes clinical, laboratory, and paramedical components.
Each year the WFH awards fellowships to medical and paramedical staff. Fellows are assigned to one of the designated WFH IHTCs where they undergo training. When assigning fellows to an IHTC, the WFH takes into consideration the fellow’s technical specialties and training needs, languages, capabilities, preferred training centre, and travel distance.
Who is this scholarship program targeted to?
International Hemophilia Training Centre (IHTC) fellowships are offered to healthcare professionals from developing countries working in close collaboration with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders services. All members of the comprehensive hemophilia care team are eligible for fellowships, including physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, laboratory scientists and technicians, orthopedic surgeons, dentists, psychologists, and social workers.
